Valmiki Table Land

On the west side of the Valmiki Temple at a distance of 1 km. is the table land.This table land is 3259 to 3500 feet above sea level.It is 20 kms. in length and 5 to 7 kms. wide.It stretches on the western side upto Chiplun and on the southern side it touches Sangameshwar(Nayari) and Devrukh(Kundi).
The view from the table land is fascinating. Upto the horizon you can see only black flat stone.
From the southern side of the table land, the Chandoli Dam is visible,whereas on the northern side Koyna abhayaranya is seen.
In the monsoon season the table land is enveloped with mist and fog.The area is bloomed with colourful flowers.But the climate in this region keeps varying in the monsoon season.

Chandoli Zoo and Chandoli Sanctuary

Chandoli Zoo is at a distance of 1 to 1 ½ km. from Valmiki,whereas Chandoli Dam is at a distance of 3 to 4 kms. from Valmiki.
The view of this Chandoli Zoo and Chandoli Dam is a pleasant sight from the Valmiki Table Land.The forest here is dense and you get to see wild animals such as tigers,panthers,wild pigs,foxes,bears,wild cats etc.
Many medicinal plants and herbs like Hirda,Beheda,Shekakai,etc. are found in this forest on a large scale.

Chandoli Zoo and Chandoli Sanctuary

   

Kandhar Falls

Kandhar Falls is located at a distance of 7 to 8 kms. from Valmiki.This fall is in the middle of Chandoli Zoo,hence surrounded by dense forest.This Fall starts from a 'U' shaped hill.
It is next to the Chandoli Dam.In short you can say that the water falls in the Chandoli Dam.
This Kandhar Falls is 2 feet bigger than Gokak's Dudh-Sagar Falls.

Prachitgad

Prachitgad is a fort of the times of Lord Shiva.On the way to Prachitgad, in the jungle, there is an old palace,rather remains of this palace and an 'well' of Rani Kalavati.This 'well' is well built with very fine carvings.
There is a deep valley while climbing Prachitgad.To reach Prachitgad passing this valley there are several ladders made of iron.On the fort there are stables,an old temple,'tofa',at the same time caves which has a small water pond.Valmiki to Kandhar Falls and ahead to Prachitgad,this journey you have to do through the Table Land.During this journey you get to see wild animals for sure!

Bhairavgad

Bhairavgad is a fort of the times of Shiva.There is an old temple on thid fort.the pillars in the temple are finely carved.
The fort is still in a good condition except for a few parts.You will get to see the 'buruj',statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and few good piece of works.
Bhairavgad is in the Koyna Zoo so it is surrounded by dense trees on all sides.
